Bruno climbs up a ridge high above the Braldu valley, a largely unexplored region in the Karakoram, on the edge of China. We had seen snow leopard tracks earlier that day, caked in mud.

September expedition deep in the Shimshal Pamir, just my friend Bruno and I. No jobs, no responsibility, just lust to get dusty and live off instant noodles. We were looking for caves used as dwelling around the uninhabited Braldu valley in a time when the glacial cover was much larger and it was easier to commute between Turkestan and Hindustan. We cached food, ropes and crampons under rocks to pick up on our return and climbed a peak.
