I climbed up a hill, and then up a small tree and stood there, waiting for the horses to come. That day, riders gathered on a snowy plain to play Buzkachi, a raw and ancient Central Asian horse game played since the days of Ghengis Khan. Tajikistan.
During a 2008 winter expedition in the Pamir mountains of Afghanistan, a 4 weeks round trip, mostly on foot. That winter, 3 foreigners including myself met in the Afghan Pamir – that region had not been visited by foreigners since the Michaud (French photographers) visited in winter 1972.
