In 2017, I joined an Iranian scientific expedition through the Lut Desert (Dasht-e Lut) in Iran. Satellite temperature data compiled by NASA show that the Lut Desert is the hottest spot on earth (land surface temperature of 70.7C, 159.3F). The goal of the story was to show this stunning and extreme desert environment.
